COTA J.Gay - GOLDEN-CHAMOMILE

Scientific Description:

Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves 1−3-pinnatisect, segments often pectinately divided, rarely subpalmatisect. Ray flowers white, yellow or rarely pinkish-mauve. Disc corollas yellow, rarely pinkish-mauve (at least in sicco), not inflated at base. Receptacle ± convex, not strongly conical; paleae usually cartilaginous, less often scarious, oblong or oblanceolate, usually strongly acuminate at apex, seldom acute or truncate-mucronate. Achenes obconical or turbinate, compressed, transversely rhombic in section with acute lateral angles, rarely subulate; coronate or ecoronate at apex, never auriculate.

Public Description:

Cota, commonly known as “golden-chamomile”, is native to Europe, North Africa, and southwestern Asia, and several species have spread to many parts of the world. There are 25 species in the world and 17 species (25 taxa) in Türkiye. They are herbaceous plants with flower heads including white or yellow ray florets and yellow disc florets.
