Scientific Description:

Glabrous, glaucous perennial herbs, ours with tubers. Leaves basically ternate, often further divided. Flowers zygomorphic with the upper petal spurred, in bracteolate racemes. Ovules numerous. Fruit a two-valved capsule. Seeds arillate.

Public Description:

Corydalis, commonly known as “corydalis”, is native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere and the high mountains of tropical eastern Africa. There are approximately 586 in the world and 17 species (25 taxa) in Türkiye. They are annual and perennial herbaceous plants with blue, yellow, pink, purple, lilac, white flowers. In traditional Chinese medicine, some species are used to relieve menstrual pain, abdominal and hernia aches.
