Scientific Description:
Ascending-erect, slender perennial, glabrous to sparsely pubescent. Stems wingless, slender, 15−40 cm. Median leaves subsessile, subdigitate, aristate; leaflets (1−)2-paired, linear, 20−70(−80) × 1−3 mm, 3−5-parallel-veined; stipules lanceolate, much longer than the 0.5−1 mm petiole. Peduncles as long as or longer than leaves, rather laxly 3−6-flowered; pedicels 2−6 mm. Flowers purple or bluish, 14−20(−22) mm. Calyx 6−9 mm; lowest tooth slightly shorter than tube. Style linear-subspathulate, 3−4.5 × c. 0.75 mm. Legume linear-suboblanceolate, 35−55 × 4.5−6 mm.
Flowering time: April−June.
Habitat: Pinus brutia L. and Pinus nigra L. forests, Quercus L. woods, macchie, rocky slopes, scree, 200−1550 m.

Public Description:
Lathyrus digitatus, known as “tavşan kanı” (in Turkish), is distributed in Southern Italy, southeastern Europe and western Türkiye. It is a perennial herb with stems up to 40 cm. Its flowers are purple or bluish. It can be seen in flower between April and August.
