Scientific Description:

Prostrate herbaceous perennial, with dense shining tomentum (hairs less than 0.5 mm) and creeping underground stems. Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate, obtuse or acute, base cordate, undulate, broadly crenate to dentate. Flowers axillary, solitary or in 2−4-flowered cymes. Outer sepals ovate, apiculate, densely tomentose. Corolla pink to light purple, 25−35 mm. Ovary usually hairy at apex.

 

FIowering time: May−August.

Habitat: Pinus L. woods, open steppe, stony slopes, meadows, cultivated and fallow fields, usually calcareous, 880−2000 m.

Public Description:

Convolvulus galaticus, common name “boz sarmaşık” (in Turkish), is distributed in West Anatolia and Lebanon. It is a herbaceous perennial plant with dense shining hairs and pink to light purple flowers. Its blooming from May and Agust. It is found in Pinus L. woods, open steppe, stony slopes and meadows. The flowers of C. galaticus are locally used in infusion (gargle) against toothache.
