Public Description:
Calystegia silvatica, common name “giant bindweed or large bindweed”, is native to southern Europe and Türkiye but has been introduced to many other areas because it is an attractive garden plant. It is a climbing plant with a length of 3 meters. It has also large, arrow-shaped leaves and showy white trumpet-shaped flowers up to 9 centimeters in diameter. The word "silvatica" in the genus means "pertaining to woods" in Latin and this name is given because the plant is common in the forests. It shows flowering in April and August.
