Scientific Description:
Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves toothed, usually densely hairy like the stems, seldom cordate at base. Verticillasters subtended by floral leaves, each flower subtended usually by an outer and two inner bracteoles. Calyx narrowly obconical, 10-ribbed, with 5−10−30 teeth; tube usually densely hairy outside, with tufts of long hairs inside at mouth. Corolla white, yellowish or various shades of purple, pubescent outside, 2-lipped; upper lip straight, bifid; lower lip 3-lobed; tube included in calyx, with an uneven ring of hairs inside, or glabrous. Stamens 4, parallel, lower pair longer, all included in corolla tube; anther thecae divergent. Nutlets smooth, truncate or rounded at apex.

Public Description:
Marrubium is a genus of annual or perennial herbs, known as “horehound”, and is native to temperate regions of Europe, North Africa, Asia and western China. There are approximately 49 species in the world and 20 species (24 taxa) in Türkiye. They have white, yellowish or various shades of purple flowers and hairy leaves.
