Scientific Description:
Spiny or unarmed shrubs (fruticose or suffruticose). Leaves 1-or 3-foliolate, sometimes caducous; stipules small, swollen pulvini sometimes present. Flowers in heads, racemes or axillary clusters. Calyx campanulate or tubular with a prominent upper and lower lip, the upper lip deeply bifid, the lower with three distinct teeth. Corolla yellow, glabrous or sericeous, the standard as long as or shorter than the keel. Stamens monadelphous. Legume ovoid or narrowly oblong, seeds 1−several. Seeds estrophiolate.

Public Description:
Genista, known as “greenweed”, is a genus of spiny or unarmed shrubs, and is native to Europe and western Asia. There are approximately 125 species in the world 14 species (15 taxa) in Türkiye. They have yellow flowers.
