DAPHNEL. - PARADISE PLANT
Scientific Description:
Shrubs. Leaves alternate, rarely opposite, deciduous or evergreen. Flowers hermaphrodite. Bracts present or absent. Perianth tubular, deciduous or sub-persistent. Hypogynous disc annular or cup-shaped. Style very short, remaining terminal; stigma globose or centrally depressed. Fruit a 1-seeded berry, rarely semi-coriaceous.

Public Description:
Daphne, is deciduous and evergreen shrubs, commonly known as “paradise plant”, and grows naturally in Asia, Europe and north Africa. There are approximately 92 species in the world and 10 species (18 taxa) in Türkiye. Many species are cultivated as ornamental shrub in gardens or rock garden plant for their sweetly scented flowers and brightly coloured berries. All parts of daphnes are poisonous, especially the berries.
