Scientific Description:

Low-growing, often acaulescent, annual or perennial herbs. Leaves rosulate or alternate only on basal parts of stems, spathulate or oblanceolate. Capitula heterogamous, radiate, solitary on leafless pubescent scapes or peduncles. Involucre ± campanulate; phyllaries 1−2-seriate, herbaceous, often blackish-green, pubescent. Receptacle conical, naked. Ray flowers 1-seriate; ligules white or pink. Disc flowers yellow; corollas 5-lobed at apex. Achenes obovate, compressed, thickened at margins. Pappus absent.

Public Description:

Bellis is a genus of annual or perennial herbs, known as “daisy”, “lawndaisy”, “lawn-daisy” or “English Daisy”, and is distributed in Europe and West Asia. There are 14 species in the world and 3 species (3 taxa) in Türkiye. They are common plants and is found in meadows, lawns and other grassy areas. The upturned flower heads look like single flowers, but actually consist of a number of small packed individual florets; this arrangement is a type of inflorescence known as a “capitulum”.
